La bambola Okiku
Tra le tante bambole maledette di cui ho avuto notizia, cercando per parlarne nel blog, ho trovato l’avvincente storia di Okiku, una bambola giapponese, vestita in kimono, che sembra essere posseduta da uno spirito. La bambola è famosa in tutto il mondo per i suoi capelli, che crescono normalmente esattamente come quelli umani. Sottoposta a varie indagini, un ricercatore giapponese che la studiò attentamente scoprì che i capelli di Okiku sono esattamente gli stessi dei bambini di 10 anni. Qual è la cosa strana? Che Okiku apparteneva a una bambina di esattamente dieci anni, morta tragicamente. Forse che lo spirito di questa bambina entrò nel corpo della bambola, continuando a vivere in esso?
Il nome venne dato alla bambola in onore di una bambina, Okiku appunto, che giocava con lei molto tempo fa. La bambola, alta circa 40 centimetri, è vestita con un kimono rosso e ha gli occhi neri, simili a delle perline, e folti capelli neri. Al momento la bambola è custodita nel tempio Mannenji di Hokkaido, e si trova lì dal 1938.
Nel 1918, un giovane di nome Eikichi Suzuki comprò a Sapporo, in Giappone, un regalo per la sua sorellina Okiku, di due anni. La bambina era contentissima della sua bambola e non se ne separava mai. Ci giocava ogni giorno e alla fine decise di darle il proprio nome. Purtroppo Okiku morì poco dopo a causa di una febbre e i suoi cari pensarono inizialmente di seppellire la bambola assieme alla figlia, ma se ne dimenticarono. Decisero così di porre la bambola sull’altare della loro casa, in cui si trovavano le foto dei defunti e dove veniva acceso l’incenso per pregare i cari scomparsi. Okiku ebbe quindi il suo posto d’onore, e la famiglia Suzuki pianse e pregò molto la bambola, in ricordo della figlioletta che tanto l’aveva amata. Ben presto però cominciarono a notare che i capelli della bambola stavano cominciando a crescere. La famiglia cominciò dunque a credere che lo spirito della figlia si fosse rifugiato nella bambola.
Nel 1938 la famiglia Suzuki si trasferì a Shakalin, ma non portò con sé la bambola Okiku pensando che se l’avessero allontanata dalla tomba della loro bambina lo spirito non avrebbe più avuto un posto in cui stare. Quindi decisero di donarla al Tempio Mannenji a Hokkaido.
I Suzuki informarono il monaco del tempio della “stranezza” che circondava Okiku, e anche il monaco si accorse di come, effettivamente, i capelli della bambola crescessero. Il monaco osservò che i capelli crebbero fino a una lunghezza di circa 25 centimetri, arrivando alle ginocchia: li tagliò, e i capelli ripresero a crescere.
Un campione dei capelli di Okiku venne analizzato, come detto, e si scoprì che erano veri capelli umani, di un bambino di 10 anni. Oggi è ancora possibile vedere la bambola, esposta in una teca nel Tempio Mannenji nella città di Iwamizawa, Hokkaido.
